Venerable Geshe Tsultim Gyeltsen

img_6537a.jpgFebruary 13, 2009 – Unfortunately we have some sad news to pass along.  Our precious teacher Venerable Geshe Tsultim Gyeltsen passed away today.  All of the monks are here at his center in Long Beach attending to all the proper rituals for such a high lama.  The rest of the tour has been canceled so the monks can focus this important process.  Here is a ling for more information on Venerable Geshe Gyeltsen, activities at his center, and prayers that you can do – Thubten Dhargye Ling.

February 16, 2009 – Venerable Geshe Tsultim Gyeltsen spent 3 days in clear light meditation and finished at approximately 4:00pm today. Shortly after he ended his meditation a brilliant rainbow that could be seen from throught the city appeared over Thubten Dhargye Ling. Some of the students at the center took pictures and I will post them below.   All the most current information is posted on their website,

My parents have known Geshela for the past many years and infact there were local guardain during this study in Lhasa. It is sad to hear that he passed away. But we all know that he has collected all the Karma and he is in goods hands.

What sad news to learn. I took my refuge vows in Colorado from the beloved Lama. He had a profound influence in my life. I had great warmth and respect, along with trust for him. He will be greatly missed. May we pray his reincarnate will be swift.

I took my Tibetan Buddhist Refuge Vows from Geshe. Because of him, his inspiration, his warmth, his infectious smile and laugh, he made a profound influence on my life. He will be missed greatly. To meet such a high spiritual being, is a huge blessing. May he return quickly to us, we depend on the purest form of Dharma from someone with such respect.
