Grand Junction, Colorado

Grand Junction feels like a second home for us. The Pilcher family have been taking care of the tours for many years and they make us feel like part of the family. They invited us for a week of Tara. We did a Tara sand mandala at the Art Center. During the week Venerable Geshe Norbu gave a teaching on Tara and gave a Tara Empowerment. We also showed the film Dalai Lama Renaissance at the college and had a “dinner with the monks” night that turned out to be wonderful. The turnout in Grand Junction was very good and it seems like they are ready for a Dharma center of their own.

In addition to the teachings, we paid a visit to the adolescent correctional facility. We visited with the kids, did a cultural presentation, gave some advice and had lunch with them. The kids were really engaged and we all had a great time. We also had the pleasure of blessing three wonderful businesses – the Academy of Yoga (Monica and John also hosted our teachings at their center), Twice Upon a Time Bookshop, and Olsson Physical Therapy.

While visiting in Grand Junction, I stopped to see the Mandala. I came back on Monday to see it again. It was the most peaceful experience I’ve had in a long time. Thank You!
