Sorry it has been so long since posting something. Things have been pretty busy lately here in Long Beach. The monks are still here, but getting ready to head back to India. It looks like we are getting plane tickets for August 12th. I will be sad to see them go. They asked me to thank everyone for all their kindness and generosity. So many have been so kind – it has been overwhelming. The tour has been a great success due you all of you and the monks cannot thank you enough. They have so many wonderful memories (and pictures) to take back to the monastery, as well as funds for the medical clinic. When I have a little more time I will write some of my own reflections on our time together traveling the country. I am now also on Facebook so you can look up Jangchub Chophel and add me as a friend if you would like.
Oh .. almost forgot to tell you. There will be a new tour coming soon – hopefully they will arrive by December and we will hit the road in January. I will keep you posted with details as I get them.
We did just get to participate in a interesting activity with 30 Seconds to Mars (a rock group). They had us over to their place to visit and record some of the monks chants. They were really wonderful and we had a great time with them. Geshe Kelsang (our chant master) came up with a chant that they may put into one of the songs on their new album so that was exciting. I will let you know if it makes it. Personally I was impressed with their commitment to environmentalism. Their last tour was a “green tour” and they have incorporated global warming awareness into their music videos. Here is the link to one – A Beautiful Lie. thank you so much for sharing your words! I would love to see the monks next year. of course, being/living back down south I would certainly need to plan ahead and know where the monks will be. your blogs are inspiring.
