Exciting times at Gaden Shartse School. We have enough donations (most of which came from Judith) to construct one of the three projects – the shade roof. This roof will not only significantly reduce the stiffling heat in the classroom, but will also provide a place for the caligraphy class during the rainy season. The other day all of the students came together to pitch in and help get the building materials up to the roof . I was able to capture a little bit on video as well as snap some pictures. As you can see they work with a smile and a playful spirit. It was inspiring to watch them in action.
Keep in mind we are only halfway to our goal. We still need almost $5000 so please help get the word out. For more info see the “Gaden Shartse School Needs Your Help Post.” Thank you to all that helped to make this possible.

What an amazing chain of monks moving those bricks from bottom to top. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of the young monk that I sponsor, Dakpa Rinchen, but no such luck. The camera moved too fast. My prayers for the Gaden Shartse monks and for Tibet.
