On April 15, 2009, Connie Pham and some friends from Thubten Dhargye Ling took the monks to visit San Diego, California. Brian Decerda and myself had the honor of joining the group in the late afternoon and evening. Aside from being a practitioner and student of Venerable Geshe Tsultim Gyeltsen, Brian used to take walks with Geshela and clean the gompa at Thubten Dhargye Ling.

The monks visited Sea World, had a lovely Lebanese dinner with us, and then we went back to Sea World together to end the night before they headed back to Long Beach. Over dinner, we talked about their daily schedules at the monastery, thoughts on their North American tour so far, meditation, soccer, and more! Highlights at Sea World included the Shamu night show, the sea otter show, and the manatee enclosure. It was our great honor to host and spend time with the monk. We are touched by the their wisdom, presence, gentle spirit, unique personalities, and unity in loving kindness. We hope they can visit San Diego again soon.
Warm regards,
Sharon Young
